Marc Maron is perhaps the most essential podcast interviewer we have today -- in large part because he is the most honest one. And there's a great bravery in that -- a courage that transcends to the unapologetic candor he brings to his intros, most recently, a devastating and heartbreaking intro upon the loss of his partner Lynn Shelton. It took real courage to show up like clockwork under the most horrible situation imaginable, one that any of us would have pardoned him for skipping. But that's Maron. He's there. Dependable, engaging, always curious, always willing to tell us what he DOESN'T know and learn. And we end up learning alongside him.
With each interview, Marc manages to be candid, yet caring. His casual, conversational approach with his guests allows for deep, meaningful storytelling. The diversity of guests guarantees that listeners will find multiple episodes to be both captivating and entertaining. Great work, Marc.
100 on this one. Easily the best interview format out there. Effortless conversations that you feel you’re apart of. Like sitting in the garage.
WTF was instrumental in the decision to start my own podcast. As far as I'm concerned, Marc Maron is the one to model. I'm more into dogs than feral cats, but my level of curiosity is on par. And if his sense of humor and his voice is an acquired taste, well, then I guess I've acquired it. Boomer Lives!
One of the first podcasts I listened to. Great wit, funny rapport with guests. Some interesting serious talk, but mostly hilarious!
Okay...truth be told I don’t think Marc is all that funny. I don’t remember ever laughing at anything he’s ever said, I’m not too sure how he’s made it all this time as a comedian. But, maybe his comedy just isn’t my cup of tea, some people don’t get Monty Python and I think it’s hilarious. So, it’s all subjective. However, Marc is a brutally honest person, and like in an annoying dog he’s has a very affable personality, plus he’s a great interviewer. So, it seems like he’s found his stride and I’m happy for it because he produces one of the best podcasts out there. I just wish he would video his podcasts like Rogan does! Unless he’s nude while he’s doing it, no one needs to see that. Good job Marc, keep up the great work, you get me through some long days at work.
If you skip the self indulgent monologue at the beginning of each episode this podcast can be fantastic. Maron interviews well and seems to have a genuine conversation with his guests which can be a real insight into the interviewee.
Absolutely amazing interviews with comedians, actors, directors, and others. A document for future biographers and writers about Hollywood. (And it's fun to hear who is kind of an a**h*le but trying to seem nice. You can't hide that in long-form interviews like you can in 6-minute talk show segments.)
This is a go-to for binge-listening to interesting conversations with a wide range of creative thinkers and entertainment industry folks. Marc's interview style is authentic and refreshing, with an element of crank - which really appeals to me. His guests seem very willing to open all of the way up in the safe space he's created. All are welcome. The more unusual your true self, the better.
Still the best podcast out there, IMHO.
this is hard. I'm ultra interested in the guests who come in, but MM is SO. AGONISINGLY. HARD to listen to. I just want to tear off my ears.

I had lost my account to an internet imposter who pretended to be a broker and had denied me the access of the account for more than a month and had to seek help from the team who recovered the account in a span of 49 hours .They offered incredible services and were highly Professional to work with. As far as celebrity interview shows go this is my favorite. I love Marc's opening remarks, self indulgent as they may be. It's as though there are two things going on with this show. There's the interview, which is the bulk of the show, and there's Marc's journey through life as a sort of recovering ahole. It's great.
In my top five favorites
yikes. love his guest, and was so excited to hear this interview, but tbh this host sucks. nobody cares about you you you, can you pls let your guest speak without talking about yourself for a sec? not everything is about you and we are for sure not interested in you
WTF is the podcast that got me hooked on interview podcasts. I love that Marc is raw and doesn't try and pretend like everything in the world is happy and funny all the time. He tells the truth and he wants his interviewees to tell the truth too. I've got a lot of respect for that and it's very entertaining.
the best comedy interview podcast and the standard for new ones
Some great gems in here. Of courses, the Obama episode is a treat.Marc is funny at times but can be really pitiful and whiny. Also prepare for 15-20 minutes of ads at the beginning of each episode.
Marc Maron isn't for everyone. He one of those guys that worked hard to self-destruct and then found a way to live with himself. It is one of the cornerstones of what makes him a good podcaster. He can relate to the struggles of being human and he does that with his guests. For some it can be off putting because it can seem like it is all about Marc. But it's authentic, and because it is authentic, many of the guest share things that I don't think they would with other interviewers. If you want to hear what it is like to hear someone living life on life's terms you should take a listen.
Entertaining, informative and some times aggressively irrelevant. I love Marc!
