Where the Leaves Fall Purple is such a well-crafted mystery. I was unsure at first about the premise of ‘a true-crime podcast but not quite’, but the format fits this story perfectly. I love mysteries that you can just *tell* have been perfectly and carefully threaded and then slowly revealed, and this is the kind of show where you figure out the answers about a half-second before they’re revealed to you, that super satisfying moment when all the information you’ve been given so far drops into place. It could coast on this alone, but it doesn’t, because the quality of the production itself is brilliant too. The voice acting is fantastic, especially during the more heart-wrenching parts, and makes me so invested in the welfare of these characters, and the sound design and music just really elevates the show. I’m always impatient for the next episode to drop.
