Alexandra Asanovna Elbakyan is a neuroscientist and a computer programmer. She is best known for being the creator of the website Sci-Hub, which provides free access to research papers.Elbakyan received her B.A. in Information Security from Satbayev University and her M.A. in Linguistics from the Saint-Petersburg State University. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in the Philosophy of knowledge at the Russian Academy of Sciences.
