On the surface, it's a silly, fun show where someone wanders around avoiding the main plot. You can trust Sidequesting, though. No joke is ever more important than the people who might be hurt by it. The stakes are deliberately low, which flies in the face of what we think we know about storytelling - but it turns out that listening to something sweet, and kind, and that you know will turn out all right, is exactly what some of us need in our lives. Also, Tal swordfights a chair to get good foley and that level of commitment deserves our love and respect. The creator of this show is a friend, but my love of the show predates our friendship. Check it out.

Sidequesting is one of my real favourites. When you want to hear a show that is uplifting and positive without being preachy or irritating, Sidequesting's the one for you!

I make this show, so I'm a little bit biased here, but I really appreciate how each of the guest voice actors give their all. In my opinion, they're what makes this podcast great! Each episode has someone new, and the sheer talent I get to witness while producing the show impresses me every time.

With excellent acting and amazing writing, this lighthearted podcast will remind you how much more fulfilling it can be to take a break from your big responsibilities to help some people and have fun doing it.

I really enjoy listening to this podcast. For me, it is a deeply cathartic escape to a world where wrongs can be righted by an individual who is earnest, clever, curious, and a bit mischievous. The writing really shines when topics like love are explored. I recommend giving this podcast a chance, and I'm certain you will immediately like the disarming main character Rion and following their journey.

When I saw the Sidequesting Twitter, I knew I had to check out the show. I thought, "light-hearted and refreshing," and I have not yet been disappointed!Tal Minear has done an amazing job with the show, and they have certainly earned my respect as a content producer. They've committed to a diverse cast and delivered with every episode. Each guest has been top-notch.Sound production for the show is fantastic and Tal's talent shines through. As I understand it, this is not their day job, but with this skill, it's possible! Any new content producer should listen to this show for a wonderful example of how to do things right!Writing here is also excellent. The point of the show is avoiding the main quest, and each episode is a self-contained story that could very easily be a real side quest in a video game or D&D campaign. I've actually considered asking Tal's permission to adapt a couple of episodes and possibly Rion for my D&D group, since I'm just a back-up DM for my group. Having one-shot ideas kicking around is essential for my role in the group, and this show could very easily inspire very many of those.This show is incredible, and I look forward to each episode!

Absolutely adorable podcast that's perfect to listen to after a hard day. It's overtly queer while having the vibes of nostalgic childrens media - low stakes, but with a story that still matters in lots of ways. The concept itself is cute, and the execution is great for it.

A wonderful nod to fantasy and the adventures that people might not remember in the overall arc of an adventure but are important and worth exploring. Sidequesting successfully finds a way to explore the fantasy genre through a new and unique perspective. Each episode feels like a casual lighthearted trip through a fantasy world of fun relatable characters. In a genre where every protagonist is “The Chosen One” it’s nice to hear a story where the protagonist just wants to help folks out. It’s been said many times before, but this show really is the perfect escape from the heaviness of our modern times. From the writing to the foley work to the voice acting, a stunning amount of careful detail has gone into crafting the world of Sidequesting. Do yourself a favor and spend a few days avoiding the main quest with Rion.
