A full-cast urban fantasy story told through the format of a fictional investigative podcast of a man exploring conspiracies in his city, including a missing person's case and the secrets behind a megacorp's super soldier program, in an alternate universe where magic used to be commonplace but suddenly vanished. The story tackles ideas of wanting to improve the world despite feeling helpless, in-universe prejudice (somewhat akin to that against Marvel mutants), and self-discovery. The main character is a determined investigator and is given the runaround on several occassions, but through persistence manages to make connections including supersoldiers and the head of the bio-engineering at the megacorp. As the story progresses mysteries unfold and the main character becomes more able to use his investigations to help others. There are points where I run into one of my biggest problems with the mockumentary conceit and find myself asking 'why would someone ever publicly share something so personal and incriminating including proof of multiple crimes?', but it's mostly not too distracting, is sometimes addressed in the plot, and the reveals of information work otherwise.
