I’m a huge fan of "You Must Remember This" which is a podcast that does a deep dive on the classic film era. Then one day I was listening to "The Dana Gould Hour"- and he was talking up a fantastic music podcast that took a deep dive into the world of country, bluegrass and blues. I’m not a huge country fan, but I’m a lover of history, especially when applied to American Culture and I have yet to be steered wrong by Mr. Dana Gould. I head Tyler Mahan Coe talk for perhaps about 5 minutes on an episode dedicated to covering The Louvin Brothers. I don’t care about gospel music in the slightest…and yet…I was hooked. Coe’s research is spectacular, his passion for music history is clear, and he can make even a subject that one may not initially have any interest in, fascinating. He is on an extended hiatus currently, but that doesn’t negate the fact that his work here is incredible. If you have even a passing interest in music and the history around it- this is a podcast for you.
