Michelle Shephard is an independent investigative reporter, author, and filmmakerPreviously, Shephard guest-hosted "The Current" on CBC, and before that she was a reporter with the Toronto Star. Her film credits include co-directing the film "Guantanamo's Child," which premiered in 2015 and was based on her book about Omar Khadr, producing the documentary "Prisoners of the Absurd," which premiered in 2014, and associate producing the documentary "Under Fire: Journalists in Combat," which premiered in 2011.Shephard was raised in Thornhill, Ontario. She received her B.A. in Political Science and English from the University of Toronto, and her M.A. in Journalism from Ryerson University.
