John Scott-Railton is a research whose work focuses on technological threats civil society, including targeted malware operations, cyber militias, and online disinformation.. Currently, he is a Senior Researcher at The Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto.Scott-Railton is best know for his collaboration with Bill Marczak that uncovered the the systematic use of Pegasus spyware to target civil society in several countries, including Mexico and the UAE.Previously, Scott-Railton has supported free and secure information flow with organizations such as The Voices Projects. He was also a fellow at Google Ideas / Jigsaw at Alphabet.
